Guidance Counseling
Guidance counseling focuses on college and career planning and ensures that student course selections are aligned with their goals for after graduation. Students can make an appointment with the school counselor for an in-person or virtual meeting.
JHS offers guidance counseling services through staff-student partnerships where every student chooses an advisor for support. The Future Phoenix advisory period allows for advisors to have daily check-ins with students to address challenges, personalize interventions, and provide ongoing student evaluation of progress. Guidance counseling supports:
-
Identification of interests and academic aptitudes
-
Goal setting, course selections, and academic achievement
-
Academic interventions
-
Development of social skills
-
Transitioning to college or the workforce
